Pilates
Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920’s.
He developed his Method of exercise to develop the deep postural muscles which support the joints. This enables the musculoskeletal system to work more effectively, and lessens joint strain from overactive power muscles. The technique balances the body’s muscles so they can work at their optimum level, and help to create a longer, leaner figure.
It is specific, focused exercise involving coordinated flowing movement.
Body Control Pilates
Body Control Pilates teaches the principles of Pilates, and develops the exercises gradually through a step by step method.
The deep postural muscles are located and activated, with the body in a good alignment (position).
The exercises start at a low level of challenge and, according to ability, increase and become stronger, more coordinated and flowing as your strength and stamina improve. The exercises can be adjusted to ensure that your body is being developed without strain or pain.
Body Control Pilates is very effective for improving musculosketel problems, including back or neck pain, but it is not an instant cure! Pilates is best practised regularly to achieve optimum results, and it takes time to rebalance the body, particularly after injury or pain.
